How it began...Health Care in the Developing World (spirit, mind and body)
In 2006 I began my training as a naturopathic family physician, responding to a long felt call on my heart to serve those in the developing world who do not have adequate access to health care. In 2011 I graduated from medical school at Bastyr University, receiving my doctorate in naturopathic medicine. Over the years, I have been blessed with many opportunities to partner with and serve communities in need all over the world (medically and spiritually)...such as working in rural medical and church clinics, collaborating with village health promoters, teaching English and the Bible to children, supporting US workers in the developing world, permaculture farming and more. I really enjoy developing relationships and living life in partnership with local communities!
When I am working in medical clinics in the developing world, this is a list of items that we can often use: Thank you! Please email me before donating these things as the work and needs continues to change.
Thank you especially for donating the following items or money towards the purchase of them! For many items listed, used items will work just fine. All supplements and medications should be not expired so as to retain potency and safety. Thank you for your support!

More about the work in Guatemala!
December 2014
Below is a copy of the letter I sent out to some friends and family who have been praying for me as I have been searching for a good fit in a community to partner with in the developing world. I believe God has called and prepared me go to Guatemala and that He opened this door for me to walk through so I step out in faith and excitement. I have been so grateful for the way God has made Himself known and real to me recently. My heart is to continue to love and pursue relationship with Him and share His love and goodness with others. Life with God is surely an adventure as has been my story and will continue to be.
Warm Christmas greetings friends, family and prayer partners!
I am thankful to praise God for His provision this year, especially in enjoyable employment, relationships in my community and God’s revelation of His character and beauty displayed through His creation that surrounds me in the Colorado Rockies! I am also excited to share with you my plans to go to Guatemala beginning in February to work at an orphanage, a rural clinic and some schools. It seems as though the door has been opened and God has paved the way for me to partner with a few organizations in Guatemala that desire to bring physical and spiritual hope and healing, primarily to the orphans and poor living in and around Guatemala City.
This particular opportunity in Guatemala is something I have been praying about for a few months and as many of you know God has been preparing me for over the years. Groups of people from my church here in Colorado have been taking medical and construction trips to Guatemala for the past few years to serve with several of the partner organizations there that I will have the joy of working with.
Through this connection at my church, I recently met with Diane Herman, a woman who relocated to Guatemala City with her family in 2011 after visiting and seeing the needs there. Diane’s family serves under a small non-profit they established when their daughter died of cancer in 2008, Gifts of Hope (www.globalgiftsofhope.org/hope.html). The Hermans have a great partnership with another organization in Guatemala City, Catalyst Resources International (www.catalystresources.net/), through which short-term volunteer teams are welcomed to do construction projects, medical clinics and Bible teaching in the more rural villages within a few hours of Guatemala City. The Hermans also partner with a former Guatemalan adoption lawyer who opened an orphanage called God Bless the Children (www.godblessthechildren.org) when Guatemala closed the doors to adoption due to the corruption in the system.
As I met with Diane, I learned that the Hermans and their partners in Guatemala have been praying for a full time doctor who would work with them in building relationships in the rural villages and helping meet various medical needs that require consistent management as well as work towards teaching healthy living and illness prevention to adults and children. I feel that God has prepared this place for me at this time. I am still amazed at how His timing and provision is perfect and not always as we expect! His thoughts surely are above our thoughts and ways higher than our ways (just as Isaiah says in chapter 55:8-9). I look forward to seeing God continue to provide and direct my steps as I step out in faith on this journey.
I am leaving for Guatemala this February and plan to stay for about 6 months for now. This should give me time to assess the needs and situation, get to know people and the culture better (I have visited and worked in Guatemala twice before) and prayerfully let God lead me in partnership with the people who are already established there. If God guides and provides for me to continue working there, then I will stay. There may be a period of time I need to go back to the states to raise long-term financial support and earn continuing education credits to keep my medical license current. I will take some of this one step at a time.
For now, I just wanted to let all of you know since many of you have been praying with me or are family and friends that I think would be wondering what I am up to. :)
I am so grateful to the many of you who have been praying with me for some time, specifically for God to open the doors to serve Him in the developing world!
As I prepare to leave, I am asking for prayer for:
If you are interested in becoming a prayer partner with me and receiving my monthly updates, please email me at [email protected] with “prayer partner” in the subject line.
If you would like to support me financially:
As I will not be receiving an income in Guatemala, I will be raising funds for my expenses in getting to Guatemala and, for the time being, to work there for approximately 6 months. From what I understand, the expenses for the initial 6 months will be around $9,000, which includes travel, medical license fees and health insurance. One time financial gifts are much appreciated, as are monthly commitments that I can count on to know that I’ll be able to stay. I have edited this portion of the letter since the way I receive support has changed.
If you would like to contribute one-time or monthly support for my work and needs, please mail checks made out to my home church, Rocky Mountain Church, with "Rachelle Price - Guatemala Missions" in the memo to:
Rocky Mountain Church
451 Promontory Drive
Estes Park, CO 80517
These donations are tax-deductible. Please let me know if you have any questions or feel free to call the church office at 970-586-0873.
In addition to the monthly updates that I email to my prayer partners, I will also keep my personal website updated before I leave and while in Guatemala at www.hopejourney.weebly.com, with the following information:
Thank you for partnering with me in the ways God is moving in my life and in Guatemala! Please let me know if you have questions about anything. I am happy to share more and hear your thoughts as well.
May you be blessed with the presence and peace of Christ with us, Immanuel, this Christmas season.
Much Love,
Rachelle

As I prepare to leave, I am asking for prayer for:
- God’s continual guidance in trusting Him for all that is needed as I prepare for life in Guatemala, especially for my safety in a potentially dangerous country. That I would be shrewd as a serpent and innocent as a dove, like Jesus advised His disciples in Matthew 10:16.
- Open hearts of all the people I look forward to meeting.
- For my health and personal needs
- Finances for plane tickets, health insurance, medical license fees and other expenses.
